911 3.2 Carrera Speedster for sale

Produced in 1989 in very limited numbers for the American market, the 3.2 Speedster used as a base the body, brakes and suspension from the 911 Turbo, using the mechanicals from the 3.2 Carrera.

The distinctive look was achieved by removing the rear seats and fitting a distinctive fibreglass ‘clam shell’ that covers the hood, or ‘rain hat’ as described by Porsche. In fact one of the distinctive features of this car is that designation - original purchasers had to sign a disclaimer against leaks.

Internally, the seat rails were dropped by 20mm, with the seats themselves a combination of sports and standard seats, with a hard backed top half.The windscreen is unique to the car being lower and more raked than the standard car. Another unique feature is the frameless side screens.

Porsche produced only 139 RHD examples with all but 10 based on the Turbo body. Only 64 were imported into the UK and only a fraction of those remain with the rest in private collections here and overseas.

This beautiful 911 3.2 Carrera Speedster is presented in Silver Metallic with Burgundy leather seats.

The 3.2 Litre flat six air cooled engine develops 231 bhp and is coupled to a G-50 5-speed manual gearbox with hydraulic clutch.

Factory-fitted options include fully electric seats and cruise control. It also benefits from a 3-spoke Clubsport steering wheel and Blaupunkt Toronto CD radio.

Previously supplied and serviced by us, it comes complete with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and has driven just 30,350 miles from new in 1989.
